BUT It Is Your Time: Steps from Followership to Leadership – With Personal Stories of Warts – Learning to Lead from Mistakes began as a simple bit of academic research. Being a professor of management at the university level, I sought to use students to « educate » me on what « followers » desired of leaders in terms of character traits. This work takes a blended approach to looking at the Top Ten-character traits students desired to see in leaders, and a brief look at how each trait can be described and seen manifested in leaders. All while using the author’s own, sometimes humorous, missteps (failures in leadership) as a backdrop to this journey from Follower to Leader or Leader to Better Leader, offering and applying a bit of Biblical perspective on each trait.
